I am probably pretty narrow minded, I don't always know much about what goes on in other places. I had no idea it was going up all over. I thought Americans were being punished for the war in Iraq.

The rising gas prices are a GLOBAL problem. All over the world, people are struggling. I know that in the European Union, truckers made HUGE strikes and blocked many highways in France, in Germany and other big countries. There are regular riots in poorer countries because they can't get their basic needs in food anymore. Its not a matter of availability, because the food is available, but its just too expensive now. I have a Korean and a Thai friend that used to pay 8$ for a kilo of rice. The prices have doubled in Montreal. Seriously, its bringing down the world economy because our whole economy is based on oil. We have a Mazda 3 and we used to pay about 40$ to full our car a year ago. Now, we pay almost 70$. I know its now over 4$/gallon in the US and close to 1.50$/litre in Canada (Canadian prices look cheaper but we pay more than the US). The part that sucks the most is when you're being told that its partly because of speculation at the New-York and London stock exchange. THAT really makes me angry. The oil is close to be considered as safe as gold and thats why investors put so much money in the oil industry (one of the reasons). I don't understand the whole concept, but one way or another, we're trapped. OPF

Yeah, all my complaining isn't going to change anything. It does make me sad that the whole thing is bringing down the economies of other countries. It is affecting my job in the sense that golf balls are a luxury item and now with money with so tight, sales are down. I won't lose my job anytime soon but layoffs have begun and it doesn't look like things are going to get better anytime soon.

Wow!! Mazda3 at 70bucks?? I loved my 3 and if we can't get an RX8, I'll probably get another 3 here in Japan. We have a Demio, or Mazda2 as its known outside Japan, and its way smaller than a 3 and we pay about 70bucks to fill that. Its about 1.5/liter here too. Ok so new complaint... My wife had off yesterday so she didn't need the car... if it had rained I could have used it, no problem, but it was nice so I biked in like I always do. Tomorrow (wednesday) I have a meeting after a class thats pretty far and am getting a ride from a co-worker.. again I don't need the car and am no biking.. if it rained.. no problem. BUT today.. Tuesday.. it is pouring out and my wife has work so she needs the car. The ONLY day I need it not to rain, and sure enough it does. I realize thats a meaningless complaint, and its all just coincidence, but still...

I know a guy who rides his motorcycle year round. I live in New England where it snows every wingter. I can't imagine riding in to work on a day that gets 5 inches of snow. The guy must be insane...

Yeah that is nuts!! Riding a motorcycle in the snow or rain is crazy and can't feel good!
I tried riding in the rain once, using rain-gear but my pants were still wet, and my face and hair were drenched. Giving that I have first period, it was not an enjoyable experience.
Whats worse about today is that at 10am the sun came out... so man it feels doubling personal now. It ONLY rained during the morning commute.

I had a headache all last night and it was still there when I woke up, so I took some Advil Then right after that I went and had some bloodwork done, just a simple Cholesterol test. Because I took the Advil, which is essentially a blood thinner, I ended up with a great big bruise on my arm where the nurse drew the blood. It looks ugly.

I am sorry to hear that! I hope you are feeling better! I hadn't realized the advil/blood thinner thing. Good to know!
Are you any better now?

LOL, yeah. I guess my headache was due to something misaligned in my neck. I whined to my physical therapist about it and he did a slight manipulation there and like magic, my headache was gone. Much better than Advil anytime.

Had my cholesterol checked and my number was a little high. My doc wants me to increase my statin intake from 10mg to 20. I don't even want to take the 10mg I am now never mind more! :grr!: I'm onlytaking the 10mg because if I don't my health insurance company will consider me to be high risk and charge me $1000 more a year for my insurance. Statins scare me half to dealth. I've heard reports of side effects ranging from schizophrenia to cartilidge degeneration. I have enough problems as it is without adding more... I DON'T WANNA!

Yikes I just had a health check and my blood pressure was 138/66... whats that mean? I head that 120/80 is normal, so whats up with mine?? They didn't say anything, they just took it, wrote it down and I will probably get the results later.

I am bad with Nigh blood pressure numbers. I don't know what it too much and what isn't. Mine has always been low. I am guessing that even if you are a little bit high it might not be a concern just yet if you are still so young.

Well I the funny thing is the top number I am high.. but the lower number I am low. My pulse was like 49 which is REALLY low. They said its probably because I exercise.

OMG! I hope your health will be ok Squeek! Do like Coldfire, but instead of moving to Japan, come to Montreal! We pay (almost) nothing for our healthcare. Of course we do pay indirectly with taxes... but the province does not charge ONE penny when entering into a public hospital. I realize its quite a privilege in this world to have free healthcare. Really, I hope you get better. Anyways, I am convinced this world will change for MUCH better real soon. But it'll take more than human hands and brains for that... My complaint is pointless but since there's a thread for that, why not!? LOL I WANT vacations!!! Now that I'm working, I miss the time when we had summer breaks between 2 school years. Don't you?
