Got something that annyoys you? Tell us all about it. (Yes I know this is a rip off of a thread from another forum, but since it's a popular thread, I thought I would be cheesy and incorporate it here as well). So, I'll start. You would think that with all of the modern technology in the world today -- we've put a man on the moon, built airplanes, snowcone makers, and all that -- that mankind could come up with a better tasting glue to seal envelopes. I mean, you could go out a buy the ones with the peel off paper, but that doesn't do you any good if the bill company so politely provides you with envelopes you want to use, but taste like something died on the sticky end, you know? Why is that we don't have chocolate flavored envelope glue? How hard could it possibly be to come up with that... ?

I'd also realy like to know why it is so difficult to make a decent frozen pizza. I've tried many different kinds and yet, nothing is as good as what ya get from the pizza place. Either the crust doesn't taste quite right or they never put enough cheese or other yummies on it. If we couldn't come up with a good tasting envelope glue, how about a nice frozen pizza for once?

What happend to common sence? Odds are, if there is a wet floor sign on the floor, don't walk by slip and act surrpised. The sign is there for a reason.

I think sometimes the human body moves faster than its brain. By the time the thought has gone through the mind, the body has already stepped in the wet and slipped in the puddle.

Wow, that's a big rant. ;D I get where you are coming from though. I would have thought that in Japan that classes would be stricter than what your other new guy is doing. I would be surprised also if he gets tenure and you don't. I think you should keep on doing what you're doing and try not to be influenced by what others are doing (a hard thing, I know). It's sad, but the biggest losers in all this are his students. They are going to walk out of that class thinking they know what they need to and they probably don't.

Job security is a big deal. It's hard to plan ahead when you don't even know if you will be employed later and no one likes to keep moving around. The only thing worse than moving is major surgery, I say!

LOL... yeah. We are still renting at our age (and my wife is actually 8 years old than me) it feels like we should be in a house now. I can't commit to that though because in a couple year I may need to move again and it costs a fortune just do that. Still I am working my butt off to write papers to submit to professional journals and hopefully they will be published, which will help me to keep my job.

Well, I do hope that someday you get that tenured job so you can buy that house and settle down and all that. It would be cool to be able to say, "I'm published!" ;D

Yeah, I can't wait for that day to come!!
So new complaint:
I have a minor case of Tonsillitis!! Man, I go long periods of time without getting sick and then BAM I get sick every week with some small different illness, or I get a whammy.
I have been taking over the counter stuff for a few days, but its just getting worse. So tonight I went to the doctors and he looked at my throat and actually said with surprise, "Whoa!!". He said I should have come in earlier. I also have a fever, but I didn't realize I had a fever!!
Oh well... at least I got some anti-biotics to take. he said I should be ok within a week.
But I have off until Wednesday!! Oh well... I guess I'll sleep a lot:)

I think one of the hardest things is knowing when to go to the doc and when to just let things slide. A few times I've gone to the doc with a nasty virus and he says he can't do anything for me and I feel like I've wasted my time. So far I haven't run into a situation like yours where maybe I've waited too long, but it could happen. I am glad though that you got some meds and I hope you feel better soon. My complaint for the day -- I have athritis in my hips and so I go to the gym three days a week to build up my strength so my joints don't hurt so much. So far it's been really helping me. One of the exercises I do there is the leg press, where you lie on your back and you push a sled up with your feet, kinda like doing squats. You can add weights to the sled if you like and I do. Now I'm a girl and a small person so for me adding two 35 pounds is a big deal (the sled alone is 60 pounds). But there's these guys who are like super men and they can put as many as four 45 pounders on each end of the sled. And then they leave them there! I go and I have to take all those big heavy weights off before I can use it even though there is a sign that tells people to remove their weights when they are done. I get my work out before my workout! Grr!!! ...squeekness is wimpy.

Oh I HATE that!! I lift weights and ALWAYS put the weights back. In Japan its really enforced too. Which is good. But even the other way around, some people will put smaller weights on and leave them where I usually will pile them on, but still, I hate having to take off even the smaller lighter weights. its just rude. I hate rude. I'm with ya Squeek!! Next time drop one of those 45pounders on the big guys toes!!!

LOL, I would perhaps, if I knew who the offender was. The gym is small and most often when I get there I am by myself. Prolly just some guy wanting to show off.
