Maybe they will make it that since Petey has used the drug for so long, enough residual strength would remain anyhow that after rehab, he'd still be stronger than he was without it. Yeah I was thinking that they might do something like that, that he's evolved to the point that he doesnt really need the drug anymore, he's already like that. Hopefully he doesnt die or something since its deadly.

If they do that though, whats to stop others from doing that?
I don't know... its an interesting twist, but I wonder if it was thought out completely. There are just so many messy problems thats can come of this. I am not sure if it was mentioned or not, but is Banshee addictive? If its deadly, then Pete can't be too far from death since he has been juicing for years.
I also find it a bit hard to believe that prof. x didn't know about this. Of course he was out of the picture in this past issue so maybe that will come up later.
I didn't diskike it, but there are problems with it. Hopefully they will clean them up though. Its still too early to really form any opinions just yet.

Well if the Professor doesn't like to fully invade minds he might not know about the drug, but I do get your point. It would be hard to carry a secret like that for so long without someone finding out sooner or later by accident.

Yeah even if the prof didn't take a peek inside pete's head, Bobby or someone else would have found out he was juicing. I wonder if his b/f knew about it!?

Well, I don't know how serious any of hsi relationships have been so far. I mean, he never really had a boyfriend exactly until he left the Xs and maybe he and Northstar haven't been intimate enough yet for it to show.

I figured he and Northstar were pretty intimate since they were living together for a while at Emma's academy.

Were they living together or just spending a lot of time together there?

I agree that it would be really hard to keep this secret, especially when you live with the world's most powerful telepaths and someone who can smell something off instantly. And Jean usually "hears things" telepathicly without actually reading someones mind (like the thoughts just come to her without her actually doing anything). And I dont think the Professor actualy "doesnt go into someones mind without permission" like he says, he would have read his mind by now.
But yeah, this idea kind of seems like they had to create some other controversial thing to buy some time for Ulltimatum and they didnt really think of what the long term affects would be.

I get it that they want the Ultimate-verse to be different, but I don't always agree with their directions - especially with killing off Gambit. I am curious to see where they will go with this drug. Maybe when we get later issues, this will start to make more and more sense.

Yeah, we shouldnt really judge it yet since we've only read one issue. Maybe it will make sense as we learn more about it.

Someone posted this at the Hype: "I just got this info from over at comicbookresources message board. It's a discussion about Ultimate stuff, Dave Finch is on there and he basically let's the cat out the bag. Supposedly Ultimatum= death of a whole lot of characters basically summed up as the end on the Ultimate Universe. Here's the link: youtube.com/watch?v=BH7FGnDEyfkThey really are hyping this thing to be "the end" of this universe but all I smell is a huge retooling and rebooting of the Ultimate Universe. I just hope that I like what I see after all is said and done." About 5 minutes in Finch pretty much says the the Ultimate line is going to end.

OH NO!!!!! man... that totally sucks!! I'm am NOT happy with that... man... I hope that it continues and I hope Wolverine doesn't die!!! I think what Finch was saying is that so many characters are going to die, that he doesn't see how it could continue... that doesn't mean that it will officially be canceled though. I think it depends on who they kill off. If they kill off a few x-men... well... there are plenty of characters out there to still pick from. If they kill of Spiderman and the Fantastic Four, then those two comics can't possibly continue.
I wonder what will happen!

It would save me three titles a month, lol... I am hoping for some sort of relaunch or revamp, or something. I find it surprising that it would just simply vanish altogether.

Oh yeah, I saw that yesterday. David Finch seemed like he meant what he said because he looks really nervous after saying it, like thinking: "oh s**t, maybe I shouldnt have said that yet". I hope he exaggerated when he said the line was being cancelled, and I dont like the "lots of people die" thing.
I really hope they dont cancel Ultimate X-men and Spiderman. Ultimate Spiderman has always been good and even though the recent issues of Ultimate X=men havent been as good as the first ones, it stillcould be fixed. I dont really care too much for Fantastic Four but I dont really want to see it cancelled either.
