I did just read both Origins and Wolverine. The Old Man Logan in Wolverine is still going strong for me. I really like it a lot.
Origins..... I like the reveals on Daken's past BUT.... I am not so sure about this inferance that he is somewhat empathic, that he can make other people happy or sad by thinking about it. I am still waiting to see how the rest of the arc will go.

Damn.. you beat me to it!
I am liking Old Man Logan as a non-canon story. If they consider it canon though I will flip out. I don't get the hair cut for one.. his hair should grow back as was seen more than once in the comics already. I also don't like the attitude.. "I will never hurt another human being again".. thats all too much. Its a fun read, but the character is totally different.
Origins.. I am grateful I no longer pay for that one. Daken is empathic?? HUH?? Thats just stupid. Admittedly, I dislike the character and was against his creation. Since they have him though, they should have left him be the way he was before this new power. Way continues to disappoint. The art has improved though. Thanks goodness for that.

Daken does interest me, I like that he hates Logan so much. I don't think he would work so well if he and dad were good ole friends. I am just curious where they are going with this and with Legacy where Daken is somehow involved in the Hellfire club.....? Bizarre.

Well thats what annoys me so much. Its TOO bizarre. lol
Also the reasoning behind Daken hating Logan.. its too hard to swallow. I mean, I never knew my father, but I don't hate him. How can you hate a guy you never knew? You may have some resentment, but not hte pure hatred that daken has. Its too over the top. (I can't believe I said that about a comic book! lol)

Maybe there is more behind the hate than they have revealed yet. Maybe something Logan hasn't remembered yet.

I am liking Old Man Logan, but it's not my favorite piece of Millar work. Especially when I got thrown off in the first issue. All that talking about never popping his claws, I was like "what the hell?", I didn't realize when he popped his claws in the first issue that it was just a sort of dream sequence of what he wanted to do. But even then, I think it would have worked better if it didn't show what he wanted to do and just left it to our imagination. But I like how he's incorporating the current Marvel characters in the future in a way that (to me) feels more organic and not just a glorified cameo. Or maybe it's just that it feels like a new take for some of the characters.
Thor's Hammer being worshiped as a God, The Ghost Rider's, Hulk ruling some land and even Spider-Man's daughter. Just nice little touches. And I loved that Hawkeye although seemingly useless reminds us as long as he can hear, lots of people are screwed.

Yeah, I loved that scene with Hawkeye still being able to shoot what he hears. That was cool. I always liked Hawkeye. He was kind like the Gambit of the Avengers to me. He slept with everyone.

Again, as a non-canon arc, its fine. It doesn't give a different feel.. and thats not always a good thing. I mean, things work for a reason sometimes, no reason to reinvent the wheel. If you do, thats what ultimate universe and one shots are for. This being in the solo book though is weird.
The hammer was a nice touch though and I liked it a lot. Spider-Man's daughter thing.. well thats not sitting with me well. The whole "child of" thing is just such a bland idea.. similar to Daken.. I just don't really like it much. I can't explain why, but its just so.. well.. played out I guess. In every story ever you get this.

Yeah, that's true. At least it isn't "the kid I never knew I had!" with Spiderman. What really helps this story along for me is the art. I love McNiven. His work on the Fantastic Four 4 series was amazing as well. I wish he'd stay on Wolverine forever.

The art IS nice. That might be why I don't mind it. If the art were bad I probably wouldn't like it, but as it is now, I DO like it, with just a few things that don't agree with me.

Read the Killing Made Simple one shot. It was okay but not stunning. I don't know if maybe it's just me, but the one shots so far have been pretty meh. All Logan ever does is fight someone. There is no extra development like we've seen in one shots in the past. Not sure why they are bothering.....

I was wondering the same thing. Whats the point of the one-shots lately? I think marvel should stop dishing them out like that and just focus on quality work for the normal line up. If some interesting can be added to the character, then have a one-shot. Other wise its sort a waste of time.. and my money:)

As long as people keep buying the One-Shots, Marvel will keep putting them out. And I was about to pass on it until I read Yost as the writer...wish i would have known it was just for one story. But I did enjoy it overall, like you said, not amazing, but enjoyable. Maybe it's just because I have low expectations for One-Shots. They can only do so much with them. They won't have ramifications of future stories, they're essentially filler until the next fix comes out for the respective character.

Actually it was three stories in one book, but they were all so similar -- just Wolvie fighting someone. I wish they'd do stories about him playing cards with someone interesting and having a conversation where you actually learn something about him or something like that. Him getting laid, I dunno. Some thing other than him just pounding on someone.
