Finch is easily one of my favorite people. I have picked up odd comics just because he was doing the art. I am guessing they didn't want to give too much away in those pages or maybe they were just showcasing the art. There wasn't even any diologue.

So I read part five of origins and liked it... and the last page was very telling.. I am probably miss quoting here but it said something like "they will pay the ultimate price" and the art was of a tombstone with 2000-2008... ahh.. my poor ultimate x-men:(

yeah, I think it's a forgone conclusion that the Ultimate Xs are all done, though we may see members from time to time in the upcoming Ultimate Avengers with Millar/Hitch that has been rumored.

Isn't odd that there be no x-men book? I mean, granted its Ultimate Universe and all, but still. I like avengers...err.. ultimates and ultimate spidey is fun from time to time for me, but my main focus is x-men. Why wouldn't they try to fix whats wrong with it, instead of getting rid of it? I just don't get it. Unless they do a revamp in a year or so.
Its cool that some characters will be seen in other books but it won't be the same.
So.. I have NO idea about what the rumors are concerning ultimatum BUT after reading Astonishing 27, is there a possibility that these are connected? Astonishing 27 with the ghost box and ultimate origins witht he watcher explanation.. it just seems to match.

So I read the first issue of Ultimatum that came out today. With all they hype I couldn''t wait to what happens. I won't spoil it for anyone but the issue was good for a set up issue -- there will be five issues -- and Jeph Loeb wasted no time in beginning the bloodletting. I can say that I am not so happy about some of his first victims.

I read this last night before I hit the hey. I agree its a good set up. I hope it proves to be a good run. I have to say I was a little shocked about how quickily and undramatically some of our heroes have died. Im ok with some death, but they should have meaning.. this just seemed almost too trivial.
The art of course was wonderful!

It says series finale, so apparently yes. Atleast they finished at 100, pretty good number. The cover is a little boring for the final issue. It would have been cool if they had a group pic with everyone who's been an X-men on the series. I expected something a little better....oh well. BTW, it reminds me a little of issue 2 it has the same exact characters with kind of similar poses:

This does not make me a happy camper... Ultimate X-Men has always been one of the book I looked forward to reading. How can they continue any universe in Marvel without the x-men!?
Speaking of which, its sort of a shame that even marvel didn't include them in the Ultimatum solicitation. I mean all those mentioned have their own books as well. The Fantastic Four, Ultimates and Spider-Man have Ultimate books but they get mentioned. Its just sad that X-Men aren't getting any love.
I'll miss them.
(On a positive note, thats less money I am dishing out to Marvel and get to keep in my pocket)
EDIT: I am home now and can see the picture.. looks a bit cartoony, but I like that they are in those uniforms. I never liked the "new" ones.
